Your body needs calories to function properly and burn them while you work or exercise. The excess of calories in the body which are not utilized, contributes to the fat cells resulting in weight gain. Therefore, if losing weight is one of your goals it comes down to consuming less calories than you burn each day. However, it is important to be careful here as it is very common for people to gain weight when you are simply not eating enough!
